Amadeus is a film by director Milos Forman. The film is an adaptation from the Broadway hit by Peter Shaffer. Since the film is almost three hours long, Benjamin and I had kept putting it off. We were waiting for a time when we could simply relax and see it in its entirety in one sitting. It was nice to be immersed in this time period and music scene for a few hours.

It is really such a wonderful film! The story is told well, music is done perfectly, the opera scenes are wonderful!

My favorite aspect of this film was how as either Mozart or Salieri were explaining a piece of music or some melody in their head, you would lightly hear it coming to life in the background until you slipped into the next scene with that melody in full performance at the opera. It was such a great transition!

For musicians, it is extremely inspiring in seeing all of the work that Mozart and Salieri complete. Although I haven't studied much of Mozart so I'm not sure how valid the film is, but Mozart was just cranking out music and operas constantly. No one was sitting around waiting for inspiration. He was consistently creating. Something I think I should be doing more.
